By default, Driyu is recovery-first: when someone scans your pet's tag, your contact details (phone, email) and general location (city, state) appear on the recovery profile so a finder can reach you immediately. That's the fastest way to reunite you with your pet. You can change what appears publicly. Go to Profile → Public Recovery Visibility (or open /dashboard/account/visibility directly) to hide your phone, email, city, state, or your emergency contacts list. At least one direct contact path must remain visible so finders can reach you. Partners and resellers never see your personal data — they only receive aggregate metrics like total activations.

What does a finder see when they scan my pet's tag?

By default, that includes your phone, email, city, state, and any emergency contacts you have added. You can hide any of those fields at Profile → Public Recovery Visibility. Your home address, full medical records, billing information, and account details are never shown. Partners and resellers have no access to this information.

Why are the defaults set to visible?

Driyu is built recovery-first. When a pet is missing, every minute matters, and the fastest way to bring them home is to let a finder reach you directly. Defaults are visible so the recovery experience works on day one — you can tighten visibility from your dashboard whenever you want.

Will hiding contact details slow down recovery?

It can. The fewer ways a finder has to reach you directly, the more they may need to rely on the in-page contact form or a sighting submission, which adds steps and time. Driyu always keeps recovery functional: even if you hide your phone, email, and emergency contacts, finders can still send you a message or report a sighting through the recovery page itself, and you will receive that message. The minimum-contact safety rule also keeps at least one direct path visible at all times.

Are emergency / recovery contacts visible by default?

Yes. By default, the names, relationships, and phone numbers of any emergency or recovery contacts you have added appear on the public recovery page. They act as a backup if a finder cannot reach you directly. You can hide the entire emergency contacts list at Profile → Public Recovery Visibility. Per-contact visibility is not available — it is the whole list, all-on or all-off.

When I change a setting, how soon does it take effect?

On Driyu-controlled recovery surfaces (your tag scan page, your lost-pet page, the Driyu finder), changes take effect immediately on the next request. If you or a finder previously shared a link on a social platform, the preview that platform cached may take a while to refresh — that preview lives on the social platform, not on Driyu, so we cannot force it. Reposting the link or sharing a fresh one usually triggers a new preview.

What happens when someone scans my tag?

Their phone camera opens the tag's URL and they land on your pet's recovery profile. They see what you have configured to be visible: your pet's identifying details, your first and last name, and any contact channels you have not hidden. They also get a "Contact Owner" form and, if you have activated lost mode, a "Report Sighting" form. Both of those reach you regardless of your visibility settings. Driyu records that the scan happened — a timestamp, a coarse country-level region, and a basic device category like "mobile" or "desktop" — for product diagnostics. We do not store the scanner's IP address, precise location, or browser fingerprint. The finder is never tracked or identified.

How do my visibility settings affect the public tag page?

For each field you hide, the corresponding row simply is not rendered on the recovery page. There is no greyed-out placeholder, no "hidden by owner" notice. The row is simply absent. Owner phone hidden = the phone row is gone. Email hidden = the email row is gone. City and state hidden = the location row is gone. Emergency contacts hidden = the entire emergency contacts section is gone. These rules are enforced by Driyu's servers — not just hidden in your browser. Even a technically curious finder cannot reveal fields you have chosen to hide; the server does not return them in the public recovery payload.

How do contact and sighting forms still work if I have hidden everything?

The "Contact Owner" form and "Report Sighting" form on the recovery page are always-on backup paths. They do not look at your visibility toggles. Whatever the finder writes goes to you. You will receive the message or sighting report through your normal Driyu notifications (email, push, or SMS depending on your account settings) so you can respond quickly. This is intentional: even if you choose maximum privacy, finders still have a way to reach you, and recovery still works.

How do emergency / recovery contacts work?

Emergency / recovery contacts are people you trust to receive a message about your pet — friends, family, a sitter, your vet — when you cannot be reached directly. You add them in your dashboard. By default, their names, relationships, and phone numbers appear on the public recovery page so a finder can call them as a backup. You can hide the entire list at Profile → Public Recovery Visibility. Hiding the list affects the public page only. It does not remove your contacts from Driyu's internal recovery notifications — they may still receive a message about your pet through the system if your account is configured for that.

Hidden fields are removed from the public recovery page. The Driyu finder, your tag scan page, and your lost-pet page all respect the same setting. There is one safety rule: at least one direct contact path must stay visible — your phone, your email, or at least one emergency contact with a phone or email. The settings page will warn you and stop you from saving a configuration that would leave finders with no way to reach you directly. You can always change your settings back. There is no penalty for hiding more, and no penalty for re-opening visibility later.
